Training That Fits Reality

Long-form programmes structured around genuine outdoor environments. Each track combines educational content, practical guidance, and flexible scheduling to work alongside your actual life.

Training Is a Skill, Not Just a Habit

Most people think of training as a routine — something you do repeatedly until something changes. We take a different view. Understanding why a session works, how the environment affects your body, and how to adjust when things do not go to plan is as important as the session itself.

Our programmes are structured to build both capability and knowledge simultaneously. By the end of any track, participants leave with practical frameworks they can apply independently — not a dependency on following a fixed plan.

What Each Week Can Look Like

Programmes are not rigid. These examples show how the learning is typically structured across different weeks.

Orientation & Context

Initial consultation, goal discussion, and first guided outdoor orientation session. Introduction to terrain types and how to read them safely.

Core Principles

Half-day practical sessions covering movement fundamentals, footwear and kit, and basic environmental hazard awareness. Educational materials to review independently.

Application & Review

Supervised independent application of principles learned. Session review, Q&A, and personal notes on progression. Close with a framework for self-directed continuation.

Assessment & Baseline

Full-day assessment session, terrain audit, and structured goal mapping. Establishes the baseline from which the remainder of the programme builds.

Structured Build

Weekly or fortnightly sessions with increasing environmental variety. Focus shifts from instruction to guided self-management, with review notes after each session.

Independence & Consolidation

Participant designs and leads sessions with consultant observation. Final review, progress assessment, and personalised continuing guidance document.

Programme Design

Participant-led programme design with consultant guidance. Covers periodisation logic, terrain selection criteria, and challenge planning — treated as a collaborative project.

Execution & Adjustment

Participant executes independently with regular check-in consultations. Adjustments made collaboratively in response to real-world conditions and learning outcomes.

Evaluation & Future Planning

Comprehensive review of the programme cycle. Evaluation of outcomes versus intentions, and creation of a personalised framework for the next cycle — independently managed.

The Case for Natural Environments

Understanding why outdoor settings offer a different learning and movement context is part of what we teach.

Seasonal Thinking

Training across different seasons builds a more complete understanding of how environmental factors interact with physical preparation. Each season presents distinct constraints that inform planning throughout the year.

Self-Directed Progress

Because outdoor environments do not come with built-in metrics or equipment feedback, participants develop stronger self-monitoring skills and a more intuitive sense of effort, recovery, and progress.

Tailored to Your Context

Alongside structured programme tracks, we offer individual consultation-based guidance for those who want a more direct, personalised approach rather than a group or scheduled format.

This involves an initial consultation to understand your current situation, followed by a written guidance document covering suggested training structure, terrain recommendations, and seasonal planning notes. The document is informational — it does not constitute medical or clinical advice.

One-to-one consultation by phone or video call
Written guidance document within 5 working days
Up to two follow-up email questions included

Training FAQ

The Foundation Track runs over approximately 8 weeks, the Intermediate over 12 weeks, and the Advanced Track over approximately 5 months. All timelines are flexible — if your schedule requires a different pace, we can discuss adjustments during the initial consultation.

Practical sessions are in-person in the Yorkshire region. Consultations and review sessions can take place by phone or video call. Written materials are delivered digitally unless a print format is specifically requested.

Each track is designed to be started from the beginning to ensure the educational progression is coherent. However, if you have prior experience that suggests a mid-point start would be appropriate, we can discuss this during the initial consultation.

Basic requirements include appropriate outdoor footwear and weatherproof clothing. Specific recommendations are made during the initial consultation based on the chosen programme and season. We never prescribe specific products or brands.

Experiences are single or short-format sessions with a specific focus. Programmes are multi-week structured tracks with a progression arc and ongoing consultation access. Both are educational in nature. Experiences can serve as an introduction before committing to a programme.
